We have sent a document showing what functionalities the service is intended to have, a prototype document. The 5 pages have been marked in the document, they are marked with numbers 1-5. The layout showed in each of the pages is not fixed, e.g. tabs may be placed somewhere else if it is more user friendly. The holistic approach to the design and focusing on details is important for us. Another really important thing is that the design should portray trust, so the user shall feel safe using our site and it should at the same time portray simplicity.
Page 1 - Home page/landing page - This page should introduce the company and what we do in a simple illustrative way. Also there will be a video which explains the site. The intention is to right away create interest and get people to want to try the site. Similar to mint.com there needs to be more info about the service and we would also like to have a specific part which focuses on security. Another site which has done a nice landing page is mynto.se, very simple. Off course there should be a place where people login on the page and also where they can register.
Page 2 - The dashboard for finance page - Every time you log on, this is where you start off. This page should in some sense be very simple, showing the status of your finances.
It should show how much you have on your accounts right now and it also illustrates with a graph how much you have spent so far this month. What needs to be added to the dashboard is a way to illustrate if you are on track with your budget and if you have any alerts that you have exceeded any category in your budget. There should also be a box showing the different savings suggestions that are customized after your economy. These should in some way be made that makes people more interested to click on the suggestions. The service is intended to be free, so when a user saves money Evisto makes money. A win-win for everyone.
Page 3 - Trends page, with different types of diagrams - The most important on this page is to get the diagrams working to show a lot of categories. Each of the upper level categories have sub levels and when you press on one of the categories on the graphs it changes and shows the sub level categories. At the most there will be 16 subcategories showing in one pie-chart at the same time, so creating a good design when it comes to colors and also fitting the different labels together is important. Because there are different types of diagrams it is important to design the appearance of these also. The other types of diagrams are bars and line diagrams. Another element on the page is the control panel for time which changes the graph, you can look at the diagrams according to month, quarter and year.
Page 4 - The budget page - On this page the user can create and delete a budget, he can also look at previous budgets which have passed, i.e. did he follow the budget that month or did he not. On the budget page the user should be able to see the current status of his finances, e.g. how much of his income is left this month. The user can also for each category he has created a budget for, see if he is on track with where he should be on this day of the month, i.e. is he according to schedule. There may be other nicer ways to illustrate the budget for the user, feel free to try different layouts and ways.
Page 5 - The dashboard for the environment part – This is the first page of the environmental part of the service. The design of the environmental part has to be in some sense different, you have to be clear when you are on the financial part and when you are on the environmental part of the service. You are also able to go from environmental part to financial part at any time, this has to be clear also. The user needs to understand right away where and which button he needs to press to change.
The graphs on the environmental part needs to have different colors combinations then the financial part. But at the same time all the coloring on the website has to fit the holistic design. On the environmental dashboard it would be good to also create the other graphs such as bars and line graphs just so we can have the holistic design for everything.
For the environmental part it should be possible to compare yourself to other, e.g. average in your country or area, your goals and Facebook friends. You can see this right away from the dashboard when you log on.
There should also be savings suggestions that are customized after your consumption. These should designed in some way which makes people more interested to press. The service is intended to be free, so when a user reduces his environmental footprint Evisto makes money.
Another thing which needs to be added is a way to show the user if he is on track with his set environmental goals.
It is very important that the whole web page shall portray trust, simplicity and objectivity. User shall feel comfortable leaving their bank information, the design should be attractive and simple to use.
One of the biggest issues with the webpage design is how to incorporate the two different parts of the business. You should be able to turn to the environmental part at any time and this vice versa for the finance part of the site. It should be very clear when you are on the environmental part and when you are on the financial part. In the examples the two parts are completely separated, how do we highlight there are two distinct parts to the web page?
The service is target towards to the broad audience, but initial users will probably be younger, between 20-35 of age.
The service will initially be launched in Sweden, much of the Scandinavian taste of design has been exemplified with the inspiration websites. So this clean scandinavian design should be on our page also.
The HTML/CSS framework we are using is Bootstrap, so keep this in mind when doing the design.
We do not have a content management system.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. Web page design starts at €549.
