This entertainment company provides full service event entertainment in the DC area. From DJs to Lights, Video Screens, dancers, stages, games, gifts, etc. this company specializes in providing complete entertainment for bar and bat mitzvahs, corporate events, proms, weddings, etc. The task is the design of their home page, with provided logo and direction.

Redesign the site with a more modern, yet creative look and feel. Sites mentioned as being successful in this aspect:

nyxentertainment.com: competitor - Ease of navigation and easily distinguishable sections of this site though the site is pretty dated in the design.
starexdjs.com: - another competitor, site is pretty ugly, but has some cool elements
totalentertainment.com - another competitor but ugly site
kawasakilive.com: Also a hip and trendy look modern comparing to other sites above.

Client wants the website to stand out among their competitors in the DC area.

The redesigned site should focus on minimization of text (as graphically oriented as possible).

Colors are open, need to show energy, and professionalism. Not club/dark colors, but excitement, power, WOW.

The site needs to be designed for a 1024x768 resolution. Please design it 980 px wide. The client prefers that there's no vertical scroll, but if your design requires it, its not a big deal.

The site should emphasize a color palette that reflects the themes of the topic (parties, events, etc) yet still remain professional and business looking. The look is not to be focused on those of club djs, but event djs who are more entertainment oriented. Basically, avoid using many images of a dj with turntables, and focus more in the direction of people having a great time and a whole big show with cool lights, dancers, and entertainment.

A logo has been provided at http://www.brainoverload.com/thedjs/logo.pdf - logo B, not A, but logo B. The look and feel of the site should match that of the logo, however, the basic color scheme of the logo can be changed at the designers discretion.

While the wireframe is very structured, the designer is free to experiment with various looks, placement, and ideas. Therefore, the wireframe is not a definitive look.

However, the functionality and all of the tables, buttons, and navigation should be maintained.

Basic Navigation:

There is a Global Navigation Menu. It has the following buttons:

Events is a drop down menu. It has the following options:
Mitzvah
Corporate
Schools
Social

There is a Left Navigation Menu. It is rectangular, and has the following buttons:
Mitzvah
Corporate
Schools
Social

Basic Layout:
The main elements of the site are:
Global Navigation Menu
Left Navigation Menu
Right Table / Content area
News Area
Photo Gallery

Of these main elements, the only ones that updates with new content depending on what the user has selected are the Right Table and the Left Navigation Menu.

The Global Navigation Menu resides at the top of every page.

The Left Navigation Menu displays the four main sections of the site (four different kinds of events Mitzvahs, Corporate, Schools, Social).

The Left Navigation Bar does not necessarily need to take up entire section above. It can be a menu, but on other pages it may be also content. The designer is free to experiment with various looks as long as the functionality is maintained.

Right Table is the main area where text and content is provided. This is the area that will update depending on what the user has chosen from the different navigations. For the design of the home page, please put a photo there with some text (lorem ipsum)

News Area is a table that displays text based news of the latest events hosted by thedjs.net.

Photo Gallery has image links to the last 3 events hosted by thedjs.net. If the user clicks on any of these links they are navigated to that events photo gallery site. There is also a link to see the full gallery.
