While being engaged during a logo design contest, collaboration, work, and result on a brand guide 1:1 project was horrific. Just a few minor points were addressed in the brand guide (the easiest ones: font styles, min. logo size), even though the designer agreed (in written form) to a list of topics to be covered in the document. The information I received within the document was already available to the designer from the logo design contest, so the designer basically did not put any effort in this job. After forth-and-back messaging the designer added three additional matching colours. After I mentioned that the majority of agreed points were still missing, the designer just listed the few points that were included and was seriously stating that he would not know what else was missing!? Unbelievable. Since 1:1 projects are just between the client and the designer (99d is not part of this contract) I needed to find a solution with the designer. In the 1:1 project communication was bad in general, even worse during mentioned negotiation phase. At the end I offered him a reduced amount of money for the limited information which was included in the brand guide.
