For this intriguing dystopian novel I wanted to explore a different idea form the designs the others designer already posted. I tried to identify with the main character, Monica, to get a glimpse of the terrible sense of vertigo and loss she could feel in the moment she understands she has to give away the child she carries, the moment she undertstand that's not 'a child' but HER child.

I also wanted to represent the bond between a mother and her child, and I chose to present it as the umbilical cord. The cord is cut, to illustrate how this bond would be destroyed if the child would be taken away from the mother.
