The Your Theatrics International Cabaret Contest (previously known as the Annual Australian Cabaret Showcase) is the largest competition of its kind in Australasia. 2013 will mark the competition’s 11th year offering the competition winner the largest prize to date - a fully produced Australian tour of their winning solo show together with a cash prize, website design and professional photo shoot.
What's your vision?
The branding needs to contain the words "The Your Theatrics International Cabaret Contest" and needs to be adaptable for the following: Primary: - Print (Poster) / Flyer - Online (Website, online advertising, banner ads, social media) Secondary: - Print (Letterheads, brochures) - Television/screen We do not currently have a title treatment for the company as we are re-branding.
Simplicity: The branding can’t be too complicated, and needs to be easily adaptable to print, digital media and signage. The poster itself cannot be busy, as it will include overlay details of ticketing, venue information, sponsors etc. Overlay: The Date/Time/Venue and ticketing information should be on a separate layer in a Photoshop doc. so it can be easily adjusted for the various cities across Australia and New Zealand in which the heats are held. The Photoshop doc. overlay can use the following example as the template for one of the city heat posters: SYDNEY HEATS THE EL ROCCO ROOM (BAR ME) 154 Brougham St (Cnr William St), Kings Cross , Sydney DAY 1 HEATS Tuesday 18th December from 7pm DAY 2 HEATS Wednesday 19th December from 7pm DAY 3 HEATS Thursday 20th December from 7pm For full event details and information for entrants, visit: www.yourtheatrics.com Identification: The design should reflect something that is easily identifiable to Cabaret/Theatre. See images attached for an example of the aesthetic we are looking for – of particular interest are designs for Grand Theatre (Comb_GrandTheatre.png) and Melbourne Theatre Company (C_MTC.jpg). Unless you can find an extremely interesting or innovative way to implement them, please avoid theatre clichés such as comedy/tragedy masks, spotlights or similar images that don’t say anything relevant or original about cabaret or our competition. Images of past winners: Past artwork has had the previous winner in mid performance shot (see images attached as reference). Also attached are images of previous years winners, which you are welcome to incorporate into your design. While this is a concept we are interested in using again, we are open to other designs. Creativity: Feel free to get as creative as you wish to within the guidelines, keeping in mind that the branding is intended to represent the competition for years to come. Designers who enter are encouraged to explain the thought process behind their designs and why they think their branding would suit the competition.
