CrossCanyon needed a new other design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 51 designs submitted by 13 freelance designers.
We just got married, and we've been planning to get the same tattoo. We have a starter idea, but have had trouble finding the right drawing of it.
The ultimate compliment to an artist: we'll wear your design for the rest of our lives. Ha, cool, huh? Better than business card logos. :-)
Thanks All!!
We were so impressed by the outpouring of creativity on this contest -- http://99designs.com/contests/9887 -- that we thought we'd give it a try.

as a gift, I gave her a piece of jewelry that is our starting point. you can see the piece here: http://tinyurl.com/5zsxqd
It's a silver knot pendant with an interwoven strand. We want something similar but different in this way:
Rather than one strand that perpetually interweaves, I'd like two strands that weave in and out of one another. It's not a mobius strip. Rather, it's two strands that become much stronger when interwoven to form a new circle. It represents my wife and I. Two clearly discernable individuals....that are still individuals after marriage, but together, the pair represents the strength of the bond.
The drawing can be greyscale or it can be color. I like the idea of having it with dark blacks and bright whites; hoping to get it to look like a piece of silver jewelry, with shadows and highlights.
But tattoo artists have told me that at the crossover points (one strand over, the other under), the lines may bleed over time, and it's harder to discern different strands if they're both "silver". So they've suggested making one a shade of blue and the other a shade of some more feminine color, with the colors getting lighter and darker as they go over and under, to suggest depth.
Here's the challenge: I don't want something that looks celtic. Can it be done?
thank you so much. we're so looking forward to inking this representation of our love and committment to each other.
