Entertainment & The Arts
We are a symphony orchestra located in California. We are looking for a modern, edgy re-branding to push our audience to think of classical composers as the "rock stars" of their day. We commission 8 posters per season along with 2 playbill covers and are actively seeking artists whose work we love and who will deliver on deadline.
What's your vision?
We are commissioning a cover design for our concert playbill (there are 2 per season). The playbill is an 8.5x11 inch magazine that contains the programs for each concert. Overall vibe should be modern, edgy, colorful. Please avoid the color brown. When you are an orchestra everyone wants to make you brown. We are so over it. Inside design uses a cool color palette. 1/8” Bleed and 300 dpi. Text to be included (see photo attachment for sample to scale text): Rock Stars Tulare County Symphony Orchestra Bruce Kiesling Music Director Please avoid scripty/old fashioned fonts. The 2015-16 concert season is titled "Rock Stars" because classical composers were the "rock stars" of their day. Rock Stars have it all, they are talented, famous, idolized, married to other celebs of their day. The playbill cover should visually communicate: “Join the groupies and make plans to attend and get your Rock On.” Overall vibe should be modern, edgy, colorful. We really want to capture this idea of an adoring public that is having a great time at a concert, but in a more pop-art fashion—not stuffy or boring. One idea is to stylize a photograph of a 1950s concert audience gone wild (see attached images), but we are open to any interpretation that works. Concert goers are typically age 50-80 so the art should appeal to an artistic, mature audience while still communicating vitality with an edge. I am attaching last year's concert season posters, which we were happy with overall.
