We publish a fun weekly magazine in a resort town. The publication is aimed at both visitors and locals. It is a well-loved publication with lots of information and a sense of humor, too.

The winning design will be used primarily for our logo (masthead) for our publication, which is an 8.5 x 11 black and white newsprint magazine. The logo should probably be in the ratio of 7.5 inches wide x 1.75, though I am also open to other ideas. If you think it would look better stacked, in a square, I'm open. It needs to be bold, energetic and somewhat elegant at the same time. And it should reflect that we are a seaside town with a famous lighthouse and a big fishing port. Our design/typographical values are high and we want to keep it that way. As for fonts, bold and modern, possibly/maybe a little whimsical. Finally, this logo will also be used on T-shirts, caps and other branded merchandise. We have a fairly successful retail store which currently stocks merchandise with our old logo.
