1.21gigawatts.com
Sleek, attention-getting logo that conveys confidence and expertise. The subject matter of the blog is "cloud computing" -- in particular, how to integrate cloud computing with traditional "old school" solutions to high-scale computing.
This is an active emerging market that is getting a lot of attention from major players ranging from Google, Amazon, Yahoo, Microsoft, IBM, and a wide range of traditional hosting providers who are expanding into the cloud with their infrastructure. In other words: lots of eyeballs will be on this logo.
The name is a tip of the hat to Doc Brown in "Back to the Future", where he exclaims that 1.21 gigawatts (pronounced "jigawatts") are needed to power up his time machine to get back to the future. Only a lightning bolt can produce that amount of electricity -- and a lightning bolt is where "the cloud meets the ground".
- Bold style
- non-cheesy way of suggesting lightning bolt origin of name
- something that will look good on a variety of light and dark background colors
- I'm leery of reflections -- if it's "right", ok, but otherwise I feel like they've become too clichéd.
- Otherwise open to clean, solid professional designs.
