Games & Recreational
We're a competitive/amateur video game team (Dota 2). We attend biannual local tournaments and consistently place in the top 2. Looking to upgrade a fun thing started with friends into a legitimate identity and org to take advantage of sponsorship opportunities.
Team Boo is a semi-competitive video game team (Dota 2) formed by childhood friends. We won some tournaments, got into the scene, and soon I realized, there are esports bars getting built, organizations springing up, and all sorts of attention swinging towards competitive gaming due to the eyeballs and attendance it's garnering. So, for us nerds to see this after growing up and being told what loved was stupid/waste of time, the dream is alive! Since Team Boo already has some years of meaning built behind it, and I perceive investment and sponsorship opportunities in the near-term future, I want to codify it into an actual organization and get in on the ground floor. While I'm certain there are opportunities to take advantage of, I have no idea what they are since this is all brand new. So my goal here is: choose a logo that will serve as the locus of recognition. So when people see it, they remember us/that the dream is alive. Team Boo's name was chosen so nobody can ever technically boo us. We then adopted likenesses of Boo from Mario, because I really like that ghost. Obviously, we can't officially use that ghost. Attached is the logo we've been unofficially using that I arbitrarily grabbed off google search. Our name doesn't have to be in our logo. But if there is text, my favorite font is Proxima Nova. As for direction, since we might put this on in-game icons and stuff, needs to be simple and recognizable in small form factors, and any detail work needs to be identifiable from there. Thinking some sort of ghost, black/grey/white, with a small splash of a predominant color or two to emphasize a little big detail. As for theme, we were thinking along two lines: * Adorable (like attached) * Macabre Fun/Lighthearted Spooky (think halloween-ey things, or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6-ZGAGcJrk ) Hopefully this is helpful content direction/useful constraints, but feel free to throw them out. We're truly open to whatever you'd want to do. Meaning is built over time, but the logo sets the stage. Selection will be made via majority rule of team members, with me as benevolent dictator in case of a tie or what not.

And then… they selected a winner!
Homeboy did a great job w/ his design and responding to all of our request. The reason he won our competition was b/c he submitted a wholly unique text and graphic design that showed his creativity and interpretation of our design brief ... we had over 500 submissions.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
