Who are you known as?
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are two surgeons (Hand Surgeon & Plastic Surgeon) who are leaving our hospital base to open our own practice. We are based in Zurich, Switzerland and have strong international ties (e.g. the Plastic Surgeon is of Taiwanese origin, born in Germany, trained in the UK). Our practice which is to open mid February 2017 will be called "Chirurgie Lindenpark" (Surgery Lindenpark) and will offer public and private patients from Zurich and surrounding area (catchment area population around 160,000) friendly (we are proud of and known for it!), caring and expert advice and treatment.
At present and at the start we are providing a "needed" and publicly funded service, ie nothing that is cosmetic/aesthetic and that requires self-payment. It is not our main focus, but we have to account for a business development that includes private cosmetic patients.
We also would like to offer our operating rooms (we have one fully equipped one and a treatment room that can be upgraded to the highest standard should the need arise) to other surgical specialities, hence the generic "Chirurgie"/Surgery in the name (instead of "Hand- and Plastic Surgery")
Our (usually German/Swiss German speaking) patients are from all walks of life and any age. We rely on our known referral base of GPs/family doctors, which is why the logo and future corporate identity is also aimed at them. We also have a cooperation with the region's larger hospitals. Our logo should be instantly recognisable, "catchy", may contain a reference to Switzerland (e.g. Swiss flag, red square, white cross), and represent professionalism, friendliness, and style.

We were fortunate enough to have found an excellent building for our surgical practice (see first and second photo in the attached pdf-file). We are occupying the third window row from the ground to the right of the glass entrance.
As can be seen in the photo impressions of the building there is a granite theme (black/dark grey and white inside, dark grey outside) which we like quite a lot. The floorplan should show the quite unique "footprint" of the building and thus our practice. We are at present not using the lower right hand third of the floor.
In the very early stages both me and my partner jotted down some very basic logo and name ideas (pages 6 and 7 of the pdf-file). We have evolved away from these now.
The "Swissness" might not necessarily be reflected in the logo as we are considering a website with a .swiss domain.
The German word "Linden" in "Lindenpark" refers (as in English) to the linden tree (park means park :-) ). We are a bit weary of using an obvious linden leaf or tree in our logo as there are already lots of businesses in Switzerland that use this obvious association (e.g. Restaurant zur Linde or Lindenblatt Bar & Restaurant).
If you are brave you could even suggest a different name or generally deviate from the brief - we don't mind and are open to suggestions (e.g. we had considered the German acronym "ZACK" (similar to the English "Wham") for "Zentrum für ambulante Chirurgie, Kloten", English: "Centre for Day Surgery in (the town of) Kloten"). The colour scheme of the logo might be integral for our overall corporate identity and the internal design, both of which have to still be decided on. It is our first encounter with 99Designs, but if it turns out to be a success there is certainly more to follow (website, corporate identity/designs etc.).
