There was a time when bootleggers ruled the high seas. When doctors, lawyers, fisherman, stay at home wives and men and women of all walks of life left their current occupations for the promise of riches running illegal booze.
South Florida was the epicenter of the rum running trade. Although a lot of illegal whiskey came from Canada, the best product was delivered through Florida. The highest quality Caribbean Rum and Whiskey flooded the illegal booze market and the men and women who ran it never looked back.
RTR: Run the Rum, is a mixology/hospitality concept that is based on the rich and colorful history of alcohol smuggling in south Florida during the prohibition era. Every aspect of the concept is designed to immerse and connect the customer with the drink, food, language, dress and decor of the time, making the customer feel as though they are enjoying a prohibition drink in a historical speakeasy. Why we chose this concept: Aside from the location and demographics of an area, we feel that any mixology concept needs a hook. The history of running rum is our hook. Combined with an eclectic atmosphere and the highest quality craft cocktails: we feel we will be successful in offering our patrons something unique. This is a concept that appeals not only to history buffs, but also to mixology aficionados, as well everyday patrons looking to enjoy a great cocktail in a friendly, unpretentious atmosphere.
Millennials: it is no secret that this segment of the population is a tremendous revenue source. The Millennial crowd counts their wealth not only by the size of their home or bank account but by their experiential memory bank. Market studies, as well as some of the most notable business leaders, such as Mark Cuban, feel that experiential retail has some of the biggest growth potential in the entertainment sector.
Our concept is experiential. It allows for patrons to fully immerse themselves into the world of rum running by learning a brief snippet about the people or events behind their cocktail, enjoying the décor and the classic uniforms as well as interacting with the brand through our knowledgeable staff or social media links.
