Root Down Acres got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Logo for organic farm: Root Down Acres
Check out Root Down Acres's Logo design contest…
Root Down Acres is a small organic family farm in Springfield, Ohio owned and operated by 35 year old Ohio native Missy Kroninger. Products offered at the farm will include alpaca and angora rabbit fiber and fiber products, chicken and duck eggs, honey, syrup, a variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs, flowers, and mushrooms, and an assortment of handcrafted items. My target audience for food products includes primarily local residents (midwestern, middle to upper class) with a desire to shop locally and seasonally for organic and naturally produced food and fiber products in my on-farm store. The primary audience for my fiber products will be women of all ages with an interest in knitting or crocheting using fine yarns, and many of these purchases will be via the internet (e-commerce site or etsy). I will also be targeting local restaurants and markets that specialize in locally produced food products.
Logo types to explore
I want my logo to convey that my business is a farm in general, and not that it's specifically an alpaca farm or vegetable farm, etc. because I offer a diverse array of goods. Just because the name of the farm is Root Down Acres doesn't mean that the logo needs to have roots in it - the "roots" in my farm name are both literal and figurative. I want the logo to look natural and hand made and not like clip art, cartoonish, or a commercial logo. When I've looked at logos online I have leaned toward ones that are oval or round in general because I like that flow, but that is NOT a requirement. Some of the fonts I have liked have had a western feel, others more rustic or hand crafted. A font that looks hand drawn or rustic would probably be best. In summary, I want this logo to say "farm" and I want it to feel natural and handcrafted. It needs to be professional so people feel comfortable buying food from me, but it also needs to feel like it comes from a local farm girl who cares about her animals, her land, and her customers.
