Provided a design that was a bit different to what I originally had thought and was able to alter from the original concept to a design I am happy to put my name to.

Millrace is a community of 226 townhouses and single family homes. It's a quiet community in the suburbs conveniently located near major cities. The community was built in 1986 and contains a mix of old and new - some current homeowners are the original owners while other owners use homes in this community as starter homes. There are trees throughout the community and the entire community is made up of cul-de-sacs, allowing for privacy and safety for the kids to play in the streets.

The primary use of the logo will be for three community entrance signs. These will be high visibility locations. The design should be attractive, provide a great first impression to our community, and provide a welcome sight for residents returning after a long day. The old wooden signs will be replaced with composite signs. The current logo (attached) is meant to depict a water wheel and flowing water, but the water wheel is more often perceived as a ship steering wheel. It's been referred to as "folksy" and "outdated". There is some desire to honor the old while building the new. A millrace is the channel of water that fuels a mill or water wheel. Streets in the community focus on the Millrace theme - Paddle Wheel, Stone Wheel, Wheat Mill, Flour Mill, Cog, Gearing, and Grain.
