RocketMBA is going to be a modern web portal for MBA students. Will include a social networking site, an information portal, with advise, news, events, careers and business startup information. Unlike all the other MBA sites, this will have a fresh modern Web 2.0 feel to it.

This site will be focused on social networking and help for MBA students covering all aspects of applying for and doing an MBA but specifially students looking to start a new business. The "rocket" part of the name is meant to represent the "shoot for the stars" (and acheive your goals) aspect of starting a new business.

Am concerned that the logo needs to look professional and serious, but still have a hint of fun and web 2.0 about it.

I have one thought of different coloured "planets" representing different type of people which may or may not be included in the logo (probably in the banner) ... 
green ... new visitors
red ... current MBA students
pink ... inventors / non-MBA entrepreneurs
blue ... advisors
orange ... previous MBA students
silver  ... successful business people / entrepreneurs
gold ... venture capitalists and investors

If a picture of a rocket is used, I see it being coloured red.
