A City In Celebration
Springs Spree is a non-profit organization that sponsors a 2 day community celebration in Colorado Springs, CO over Father's Day weekend. 2013 is the 36th year for Springs Spree. The event is held in Memorial Park and is open to the public at no charge. Typically, 60,000 to 70,000 people attend the 2 day event each year. Activities include: live entertainment on 3 stages all day long for both days; A carnival with over 20 different rides; Food Vendors selling festival type foods such as bar-b-que, burgers, hot dogs, cotton candy, funnel cakes, homemade lemonade, etc; Arts & Crafts Vendors sell their custom created items; Special Booth Vendors sell various retail items and Non-Profit Vendors are set up to display and promote their organizations; a beer garden is available to help wash down the delicious festival foods; a 5k race is conducted on day 2 of the event; a special area is set up for the children featuring , bounce houses, face painting, a petting zoo, pony rides, camel rides, a train with a locomotive and 10 cars to take the kids on a tour of the park, a separate stage just for the kid's entertainment and numerous creative activities to get the kids involved in learning and reading in cooperation with the Pikes Peak Library District. The Colorado Disc Dogs (Frisbee competition) have held their annual event at Springs Spree for the past 4 years and a Father's Day Car Show wraps up the festivities.
