Rickbook2005 got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Help OSA (Oilfield Services of Asia) with a new logo

"Experienced - Reliable - Professional", or "Get Ready To Drill" (or both)
OSA is mainly a Third Party Witness service that is called upon to certify that a given pressure controlling peace of equipment (called 'Well Control Equipment') has met Oil and Gas industry standards (e.g., American Petroleum Institute Sec 16A) and is Fit For Service. Only then can this type equipment be put into service. The business approach is, that our staff (called "surveryors") are well experienced, reliable, and conduct themselves in a professional manner (compared to our competitors). A main focus of OSA certification is the Blowout Preventer Stack (GIS "BOP Stack") whether it be "subsea" or "surface" BOP Stacks. Perhaps the use of a BOP Stack would of interest as an icon for the logo? The target audience is the larger drilling companies (Transocean, Seadrill, and others) and the major oil companies (Shell, BP, ExxonMobile, etc). F.Y.I. Other services are provided also (workshop surveillance of the re-working of the equipment, Project Management, dimensional inspection, etc). In summary, the line of thought that I want to convey is that our staff dons both the work gloves and uses articles of documentation to certify that the equipment is "Ready to Drill" (a term used in the industry). I am open to all the "types" of logos, even a 'character' might be the way to go (however, the business is a "serious" type of business). Some key words would be: Rugged, Professional, Compliance, API, Documentation - Measuring devices - Pressure Gauges, High Pressure Hydrauic pumps, Drill Pipe, Riser, Chart Recorder, Oilfield, Drilling Rig, Blowout Preventer (BOP), Ready to Drill, Fit For Service, Reliable.
Logo types to explore
I would like the logo to be legible on a business card. The font to be "rugged" if it fits well. Update: I like the "subsea" appearance shown in Sir_grabriell's design (in a different contest - also shown above on the NAVA logo). If that (the subsea appearance) is incorporated, all the better. (I am not referring to the font - only the "wavey" appearance of the background). If you have any questions, just ask. Thanks.
