The name was inspired by a little toy bear that was used to identify the premature baby born to the foundation's founder. It was a little, nondescript toy "teddy-type" bear that could probably fit on a key chain, and was given to the family as a gift by a family member.
As the interns made their rounds through the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, this little bear, affixed to the baby's incubator, became the primary way the young doctors would identify the child. Instead of by name, they called him "Little Bear". It stuck.
The family still has the bear. But now the child has grown to a healthy almost 9yr old who is an excellent student and lover of sports.
The Little Bear Foundation is born from the heart of the mom, who's mission is to, in some way, shape or form, support other families so that they can have an easier time navigating the experience. Its extremely important that the logo reflect the emotions of the story.
