Logo types to explore
Logo should be clear, playful but appeal to a high end client. I am the owner and photographer of a studio that creates idiosyncratic heirloom portraits. I am fun, creative and promise you’ll enjoy your session as much as the art we produce for you. Why should you trust me to document your family’s story? I’m sentimental, silly and warmhearted. Just ask my kids. I mumble to myself, wear jeans and sneakers. Old sneakers. But don’t be fooled; I clean up well and behave in public. Most of the time. Aside from the above, the biggest reason you should trust me is because I understand the emotional power of preserving your most cherished moments into a medium that you can pass down from generation to generation. There is no image more emotionally powerful to me personally than one I made when I was fifteen of my Grandma Lois picking strawberries in New Paltz, NY. She still has this photo on her coffee table this very day. Twenty-nine years later. Looking at that image we both remember that beautiful late-summer day, the afternoon haze clearly visible in the background… I swear I still feel the warmth of that day and smell those strawberry fields each time I look at it. I was given my first camera when I was eleven years old. I still have the first roll of film that I shot from that little Kodak Instamatic; images of my friends Dina and Billy in the courtyard of Mechanicstown Elementary School, my great-grandmother sitting on her balcony and a fuzzy photo of my cat (I’m not sure if it’s the image or the cat that’s fuzzy… I’m leaning toward the cat). Wanna get really sentimental? I still have that camera. By the age of fourteen I got my hands on my first “real” camera. I was in love with photography and I will never forget the gift or the person who handed it to me. I’m grateful that he “couldn’t take a picture worth a damn” with it, because with that camera my gift was unleashed. I made many, many images with that camera. I used that camera to express myself. I documented events in my family’s life; my uncle’s visit from Mississippi with his new wife and my new cousins. Camping at Winding Hills with my family. The neighborhood where I grew up. Family vacations. The last portrait of my cherished Great-Grandma Maude before cancer took her from us at eighty-nine years young. The birth of my first child. Yes. I still have that camera, too. There are as many memories in it as were documented by it. Much like the images created with it, I can’t part with it. I invest heavily in education. Since 2008 I have attended over two-thousand hours of seminars, workshops and lectures on photography; most recently attending one of the top workshops in the country and studying with thirty of the top leaders in the industry. I describe my work on my site as idiosyncratic [id-ee-oh-sin-krat-ik]; peculiar or individual. Why? I produce unique, handcrafted artistic heirlooms that you will be proud to display throughout your home and that your family will cherish and pass down through the generations. If you’re looking to sit in front of the camera, be posed and receive sheets; you’ve got the wrong studio. If you want hand-crafted, artistic portraits that will take your breath away each time you see it hung over your fireplace mantel; I’m your guy. I am Carl Cox. I am the owner of a studio that creates idiosyncratic heirloom portraits. I am fun, creative and promise you’ll enjoy your session as much as the art I produce for you. If that’s not enough for you (Whew!!! Tough crowd!!!); see the Why Hire a Pro tab above. Everyone has a story. Let me turn yours into art.
