Around 11AM on June 18th of this past summer my 3 year old son Clay almost died by drowning in a community pool. Our best friends were watching he and our 6 year old daughter Maison while my husband and I took my father's rescue dog on a jog. We were in Bethany Beach, DE on vacation/dog sitting. We arrived on the scene to our daughter running out of the pool screaming, "I think Clay died!" "I think Clay died!" My husband and I ran into the pool to find Clay, laying on the pool deck, blue, lifeless, with no breath or heartbeat. Our friend was doing "his version" of CPR, pretty much what he'd seen on TV. The paramedics arrived. They got his heart beat back, intubated Clay on the scene, shot IVs into his knees and started hypothermia treatment. Clay and I were medivac to Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE. My husband and our friend who performed the CPR drove two hours in silence from the beach to the hospital. Clay was in a coma for two days. The good news is, he made a miraculous recovery and is a healthy 4 year old boy! According to the doctors we "dodged a bullet." This is not the typical ending to this story.
It became apparent to us that we were given a gift and needed to do something in return hence... the C.L.A.Y. Foundation. A non-profit organization that advocates for swim instruction, CPR training, AED availability in all public and community spaces and seeks funding for a year round warm water swim facility.
Bottom line: we need to raise A LOT of money mostly from major donors. This logo (and subsequent website) needs to communicate to the potential and existing major donors. It needs to be legitimate, not playful. It needs to communicate simply and quickly to very busy people who may only have 2 seconds to view it. It needs to be in the middle of modern and classic but closer to classic as the demographic is 40 years old and up.
I wish I could provide you with some sample logos but just cant seem to locate any right now. Now it is up to you to give a face to the name. Thank you so much for considering submitting a design.
