Tiffany.M got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Family farm on the beach seeking fun, illustrative logo for flower & egg business
Check out Tiffany.M's Logo design contest…
Description/Who we are: We are a small family farm located on an island, 2 miles from the beach. We are primarily a cut flower farm, but we also raise chickens and sell eggs along with other produce such as vegetables, peanuts, and crafts. We are hoping to expand into llamas and horses in the future. There are a lot of cheesy, Jimmy Buffet tropical beach style businesses on the island, but we lean much more towards the elegant, old world family farm: a 100 year old white farm house with a big red barn surrounded by woods and gardens that open up to the ocean. But there's also a childlike wonder and magic about our farm. My two-year old son can often be found on the front porch swing surrounded by his favorite chicken friends. There's a swing in the magnolia tree in front of the house and a playhouse made from driftwood and old doors nestled in a grove of chestnut and evergreen trees. In our chicken garden, there are a number of large beach umbrellas to provide shade and shelter for them as they free range. Since we live by the beach, we use what is most available to us and it gives it a very cute vibe when visiting our hens to collect eggs. Target Audience: The wedding industry is huge on our island, so people are always looking for unique things to have in their photos, and what's more interesting than horses on the beach? Our primary target audience are the seasonal tourists that visit the island for vacation in the summer. People come from all over the country, and all over the world, to vacation here from May through October. There are a number of florists, grocery stores and restaurants on the island, but not many provide local, sustainable flowers and produce. We cater to those that come here on vacation but still want the farm fresh products that they are used to at home. We also offer locals a taste of that as well. In a world where local, organic, sustainable, and health are desired, we fill that need on the island. We also put a face to our products. Each of our chickens has a name, a photo, and a personality that's included in our crates so that people can get to know where their eggs are coming from. I'm slowly working on a series of children's books about our creatures, our farm, and our island in my free time, but that's still a few years off in terms of launching. We are hoping to one day host weddings on the property as well. We have a greenhouse where we start our seeds and a giant table surrounded by plants and twinkle lights would make a lovely venue for a small wedding party. Key elements: The ocean is a big element in our brand identity, not just because we are so close to it, but because it is the reason the tourists come to stay here in the summer. It is also a factor that affects our growing seasons. We live in the path of regular hurricanes and so we have a very polarized relationship with it. It brings us our business, but it can also destroy our business with one storm. Eco-friendly/Sustainability: Because we live by the sea, we are very eco-conscious. We try to be as eco-friendly as possible not only with our methods of farming, but also with our products. We don't wrap anything in plastic, we don't use herbicides or pesticides, we feed our animals organic diets, and we do as much by hand as possible to avoid using fossil fuels where we can. All of our animals are free range and will rush to greet you when you drive onto the property. We are also very family friendly and our children are regular familiar faces at the markets. Something else that is interesting about our farm is that we are investing in new technology all the time. This summer we are going to launch a self-serve farm stand where customers can enter a farm stand on the property filled with beautiful flowers and produce within glass lockers. The customer simply selects a locker they wish to open via an app and pays on their phone to open it. Creative Inspiration/Brands we like or are similar to us: Floret: https://www.floretflowers.com/ Muddy Acres Farm: http://muddyacres.com/ Verdant: http://www.verdantflowerfarm.com/ Pine State Flowers: https://pinestateflowers.com/ Misi: https://www.misinewyork.com/ The Cloudy Kitchen: https://www.cloudykitchen.com/ Brightside Eggs: https://www.brightsideeggs.ca/ I've attached a sketch that I scribbled out myself, but I am not attached to it, so don't feel creatively constrained by it. I love things that are elegant yet quirky. Not too serious or flowery. I've also included photos of the farm to give you a sense of our home and business. The simpler the better. Logo Usage: The logo, of course, will appear on our website, our social media accounts, and we will use the logo as a stamp or sticker on our products and packaging, in local advertisements, on the tent we have at farmers markets, on a sign for the new farm stand, and on our vehicle trailer. We may possibly make farm merchandise as well (t-shirts, reusable tote bags/market bags). I believe in the US, printers require documents set up in inches with a .025 in bleed.
Logo Flexibility: I would love if the logo could be flexible enough to be used in different ways through simply adding text underneath it. While we only want the words Beach Farm in the logo, it would be really great to be able to customize the logo to use as our labels for the various products. Beach Farm Flowers, Beach Farm Flock (chicken eggs), Beach Farm Events (weddings), Beach Farm Friends (horse rentals), Beach Farm Foods (prepared foods), etc...
