Downtown Concord, NH is a charming, vibrant, WALKABLE "Main Street"
community in the heart of New England. It has a great mix of
neighborhoods, retail, restaurants, and attractions including the
State House (it's the capitol city of NH). Think of the logo as being
for the PLACE, not for an organization/letterhead. We want an
event/destination logo that evokes the FEEL of this town, that
communicates newness and playfulness in the context of a very
beautiful red-brick downtown.
***NEW: One thing most of the submissions have in common is that they
don't reflect a place where people live, work, eat, shop, play, etc.
How can we add some LIFE to the designs? Although we like the
aesthetic of many of the designs that feature the State House, please
think about that building as just ONE element of a lively town. Our
Main Street is filled with people - walking on the sidewalk, chatting
with friends, buying things, eating and drinking...
Please do not use "DD" initials - we want something that SAYS
something about Concord, NH! Don't think about the words - think
the PLACE and all the things it has to offer. No magnifying glasses,
please. Many of the early submissions were very slick and digital
looking - almost like clip art.
Concord isn't slick - it's fun and funky and creative. Please try some
newer/more rustic or handdrawn-looking typefaces.
FYI, most buildings are only 2-3 stories, there are no hi-rises.
Classic, brick, small-town Main Street downtown, not ANYTHING like
NYC, LA, Dallas...please see photos in the design brief. Thanks!
I have appended some iconic images of our downtown. The B+W is of a
"Concord Coach," which many people view and use as a symbol of the
city. Concord is a very creative town, with lots of visual and
performing artists and arts organizations.
Intown Concord is the nonprofit that is seeking this logo - for more
