We provide pricing information for a collectible card game - magic: the gathering. We also let players track their collections of trading cards and alert them if the prices are changing.
Logo types to explore
Generally magic players are 15-35 year old white or asian males from families with above average incomes. The brand is global and there hundreds of thousands of players in Japan, S. Korea and Europe as well as the US. Generally players are university students or hold at least a bachelors degree. The site itself is a price guide for this special type of trading card. You can see a very early version of the site here: www.mtgprice.com A magic card's background contains five colors in a ring. The colors we would like to use are here: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aYVfhyIZVKk/TaJYWgoQGfI/AAAAAAAAACc/R_4FwczP9RA/s1600/Magic_The_Gathering_Wallpaper_by_Vengeance2010.png please do not use "mana symbols" or any other copyright artwork. In terms of logo placement, we plan on using the logo in two main places: 1. Top left of the website. 2. Twitter/Facebook etc. profile picture. We need a logo that will fit into both of these spaces. Ideally there would be low height/high width version for the website and a more square version for the profile picture but please do what you think is best. The site will be using the "Twitter Bootstrap" layout with minor tweaks (http://twitter.github.com/bootstrap/examples/fluid.html is an example) so something that works with those fonts would be good. Ideally the logo could fit into the space on that link where "Project Name" currently is, but that is not mandatory - we'll add it in below if it's too tall. Our tagline is "The world's fastest, most accurate, MTG Card Prices!" Feel free to use it or avoid using it, or both. (Bonus points if you use it though). One possible logo idea is an image showing a stylized magic card (a rectangle with the five colors in a circle on it) then an arrow pointing left to a dollar sign then another arrow pointing left to two magic cards, the implication being that using this site will lead to more money and more cards. As mentioned the site is focused on the financial/trading side of the game, images with money, stock charts and other symbols of wealth may be good. Feel free to split the name into "MTG Price" or leave it as "MTGPrice" also feel free to add or remove the .com in the name (I think it sounds better with .com in it though). Finally, we are planning on building over a dozen similar sites focusing on different niche markets. We'll need a logo for each of them and would like to retain the same rough feel (and designer).
