I am not looking for a mere logo but I am looking to build a brand. Here is our logic behind the brand.
Have you ever been to a renaissance festival? I love the one we have here in Kansas City. There are these lovely little shops located in these charming little buildings. It is something out of midevil times. Flags draped over balconies and hang outside these shops signifying their wares and offerings and this is where my inspiration has come from for our brand.
So close your eyes a minute and Imagine more of a midevil time and what the market of a mighty kingdom might look like....maybe imagine the market of Camelot. The local farrier, livery, horse broker or saddlemaker all would have tents or wagons advertising their wares...what might their symbols or marks look like? Was it a crest? A herald inspired mark? Was it on a flag, carved into a piece of wood, or was it forged? So, lets step forward into 2013...lets take this inspirations and bring them into this century. We are looking for the answer to create the symbol or crest that will adequately represent our brand to the rest of the world.
We want the brand to feel opulent, decadent and noble. We are creating a niche marketplace community where we can trade, buy and sell items AND our cherished horses. This mark should capture the interest of ALL who happen upon it and it should portray the crest or mark of someone that has been appointed to serve the noble horse community.
Horses carry a inherit air of nobility even for the most modest of owners and we want our marketplace to reflect this through the brand as we will be helping MANY brands promote their creations, farms, wares and beloved horses.
The logos we are citing are of interest. The logo needs to compact and still have artistic elements that make it special and unique. The logo must be able to be separated text vs. emblem and still be able to be “special” and recognizable individually. Each element might be used independently and then together. The logo must be able to look good in print, web, and in large hanging banners.
Words we want the logo to reflect are:
**Order of logos I like since I gave quite a few options:
1. Blue Hook & Irons with carriage and Genuine Clothing Co. with EST. MMXII - I love this logo in so many ways. Obviously not horse related but memorable imho.
2. Sherlock Holmes Logo.
3. Hooks & Irons font logo with the sharp edges. Lovely.
**We have had MANY issues with stock art in the past. Part of our process to protect ourselves would be to see your sketches posted privately UPON REQUEST.
**On the contest being blind: For the time being, we are going to allow the contest to remain open. We feel this will net the best result unless people start copying others work in which case we will eliminate that designer.
**Guaranteeing the contest: We will guarantee the contest once we have at least two logo's that we feel will end in a resulting brand. We will also give favor to any designer that submits prior to the contest being guaranteed realizing they are risking their time.
Thank you and look forward to working with all of you =)
