We are open to all creative solutions, but it seems the logo ought to incorporate a ladder. We'd also like to suggest making the ladder rise up from the outline of Los Angeles County, flattened and maybe curved as if being viewed from a very high aerial perspective. The LA County outline is shown in red in the first attachment (don't worry about the islands) and I like the perspective in the second attachment, but it should be from higher in space to show the whole County, not just the bottom third.
The LADR.acronym would be nice to include but not if clutters up an otherwise elegant and recognizable design. We do NOT want to name the participating institutions, but potentially generic figures or icons representing healthcare institutions and/or patients could be incorporated.
Finally, we need the logo to work at two sizes. A larger version, for promotional materials and our web home page should scale nicely to about 100 pixels square. A small version, for the banner of our web tool, should still be easily recognizable at 30 pixels high, but you could make it up to 80 pixels wide, incorporating "LADR" to the right, somewhat like the "Trello" logo at top of all pages on Trello.com.
