In 1964 the first commercial application of decision analysis was conducted, led by Dr. Ronald Howard of Stanford University. 2014 marks the 50th anniversary of the beginning of this discipline, which is used by business and government enterprises to make complex decisions. This year many leaders in the field will be gathering at conferences, events, and a gala dinner in November to celebrate the milestone and to celebrate the founders. (to see a short interview with Dr. Ron Howard (wearing a neck brace at the time), click here and use the password "decisions": http://vimeopro.com/strategicdecisi…o/78371348 It might give you an idea about how DA is used.)
We are looking for an emblem-style logo that we can use in promoting events. It would be printed on invitations, brochures, etc. and possibly used on banners for live events. We also have in mind that we might want to use an embossed sticker -- probably gold -- as one possible use of the logo, so it will need to look good in print as well as as an embossed version. You can google "decision analysis" and go to "images" to see examples of decision trees. However, they don't necessarily make good visual elements ... but perhaps you could incorporate a stylized tree (that is, the kind that grows in nature, like an oak tree) to represent "decision trees".
We have set up this contest to feature the words "Decision Analysis" and "Golden Anniversary" or "50 Years" as a slogan; HOWEVER any combination is OK and if you prefer to use "50 Years of Decision Analysis" or "50 Years of DA" or other combinations that would work too. We're quants over here ... we need all the creative help we can get.
Also, we selected the sliders to reflect midway between "serious" and "playful" ... but if you have a fun, playful idea, it would be considered.
