Entertainment & The Arts
Sixteen Stones Press is a micro-publisher producing both fiction and nonfiction works aimed at a primarily Mormon readership.
Logo types to explore
This is a logo for a publishing company, so the logo will appear on both print books and e-books. Hence, it should look good in both color (for physical book covers) or black & white or grayscale (for ebooks as well as inside printed books. To give the designer a sense for the name, the publisher is called "Sixteen Stones Press" as a reference to a story from Mormon scripture (see https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/3?lang=eng ). The story is that a Prophet carried sixteen small, smooth, clear stones in his hands to the top of a mountain and prayed to God, who then reached forth with His finger and touched each of the stones, which then glowed with light. These stones were then placed inside sea-going barges or ships, to provide light to men and women who traveled by sea. So, the logo could show sixteen stones, use the number 16, show a finger touching the stones, or any other creative, memorable or beautiful design. I'm attaching a copy of an Arnold Friberg painting of the incident, showing the Prophet praying, the sixteen stones and the light emanating from the stones. I do not want any image to appear cartoon-like or juvenile, however. This is a serious publishing venture. Have fun, and good luck!
