DunedinMusicSociety needed a new logo design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 154 designs submitted by 40 freelance designers.
Either "DMS" or "Dunedin Music Society"
Connecting local communities with live music (mostly classical, but not stuffy, elite or traditional). Target audience are highly trained performers and enthusiastic 35-60 year old female fans of live music.
Logo may include up to four colors excluding background. Any colors may be used, but my own logo color is #12489E which would be nice to incorporate, but not necessary. Other colors may be similar to #FE001A, #FCC917, and/or #00B128. Also prefer white backgrounds and dark grey text #333333.
Logo should be clearly visible on white background, but also easily identified on dark backgrounds. Logo will often be used on its own without touching other artwork as well as placed over photos with much contrast, such as a landscape with light green fields, dark forest and bright blue sky with white clouds.
Logo needs to be round or square, and recognizable at 16px (website icon) as well as on a large street banner. Name (Dunedin Music Society) or initials (DMS) may be above, below, left or right of logo, or incorporated into the logo. Fonts used so far include Calibri and Cambria, but any font may be used for the name/ initials.
Previous logo generally not liked as it reminds folk of "Tide" laundry detergent, not classical music. One great design is the London Symphony Orchestra's that consists of the initials LSO in the shape of a conductor. No musical symbols such as note shapes, treble or bass clefs should be used. See attached.
