DIGIQ got their new logo design by running a design contest:

Logo types to explore
Please open the attachment to find the website design that will eventually go live on AutoLust.com. The logo needs to fit in with this design. It should be clean and simple and should present a balance between edge and sophistication. You'll notice that there's a placeholder logo there. We like the idea of using the letters "A" and "L" to create a letter form logo, but the readers need to know that they're on AutoLust.com. We'll leave it up to you to decide on how best to present that information. You're welcome to redesign the header to fit in with your logo if you choose. You may also design a fluid logo if your creativity leads you there. http://techcrunch.com/ shows an example of a fluid logo (letter form logo extends to show the full name when the user scrolls down the page). Here are a few logos we like (some of them for the logos themselves, and others for the way that they're presented on the website): http://jpgmag.com/ http://demo.wearepixel8.com/artisancreatif/ http://99designs.com/logo-design/contests/instash-ultimate-buyer-guide-men-42352/entries/4327253

And then… they selected a winner!
A very talented designer with a great attitude and excellent communication. We used Dino for a brand mascot project and his designs were fantastic. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
