pp332 got their new illustration or graphics by running a design contest:
Electric Guitar - Pick Guard of the future
Check out pp332's Illustration or graphics contest…
Target audience: Very specifically, guitar players with skill levels ranging from intermediate to professional. Most of these folks are experimenters, professionals, themselves are innovators, who want the latest tech to help them play or enjoy their guitar more. Our Organization: Nebula Instruments is a tech-creative music technology company. We're passionate about music, creativity, quality, art, beauty, and effectiveness of products. A lot of products simply exist because there is no better option. We believe a product should exist because it must. The product we're working on is to enable musicians full access of their instruments. The product is very similar to this. https://www.emgpickups.com/guitar/dg20-davidgilmour.html That's a pick guard, with pickups, and electrical components to modify the characteristics of sound. Our product is the pick guard of the future. It'll have the same pickups, but the electrical components are totally out of this world.
What's your vision?
Abstract: New sleek, modern, professional, (perhaps luxury) product design and illustration for a totally new electric guitar device. The device is the electronics that goes inside of electrical guitars -- it's what makes the guitar "electric." More info: Reference product: https://www.emgpickups.com/guitar/dg20-davidgilmour.html While existing guitar pick guards are static systems, our product is programable and smart. Meaning the unique configurations could be saved into presets, and those presets could be changed on the fly with a push of a button. The buttons would be integrated where the knobs are. If the reference product electric guitar displays on a volume knob that rotates from 0-270 degrees, and is numbered 1 through 9. It's visible, audible, and sensible what the value is. It's visible because of the numbers 0-9. It's audible, because if the guitar is plugged into an amp, you can hear the loudness change. And it's sensible because if the knob rotates to 270 degrees, it'll lock up and you can't spin it further... So for a system that can modify volume, tone, pickup selection on the fly, what would the user interface be? How can we show the value of the (volume for example), when numbers don't make sense and the knobs rotate indefinitely. (We have our own design but don't want to stifle any creativity here). How do we should which pickup is selected? The form factor of the device will be very much the same as the reference product link above. The focus can be more on the interface, the design, and possibly new art. Don't want to stifle creativity, so if you wanted to design a totally new guitar ground-up, that's cool too. :) We plan to build some prototypes from the product illustration.
