I am an aspiring author who has chosen to self-publish through CreateSpace and Amazon.
What's your vision?
My book, The Pirate Queen, is targeted at a YA (or Young Adult) and NA (or New Adult) audience. It has the atmosphere of "Stardust" by Neil Gaiman with just a hint of "Game of Thrones". In this world, there were four kingdoms that stood in peace for many years but war broke out between the East and the West Kingdom. Because of this war both of the kingdoms were ruined, leaving the North and South Kingdoms in a constant state of fear. I would like the map to be able to fit easily into one or two facing pages of a 6"X9" trim.
I have attached a VERY rough draft of what the map should look like. This map is NOT good. It's just a reference so you know roughly where everything is. I have also attached the formatting document for a 6" by 9" paperback as well as a list of all geography in the Four Kingdoms. Be creative - remember that this is a map of a world. I'd like it to have a middle-earthen or Celtic flair to it. It should be in black and white and look like it was drawn on parchment. Quick note: The Ice Forest and Autumn Woods surround the ruins of the White and Black Castle.

And then… they selected a winner!
Working from a detailed but relatively unconstrained brief, David nailed the concept first time, and was very responsive to feedback. Very happy with the resulting artwork, and am engaging David again immediately to continue the overall project. Thanks David!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
