Entertainment & The Arts
Quotery features famous quotes from thousands of authors.
What's your vision?
We need an avatar to represent "Anonymous" authors on our site. The avatar should be gender and race neutral, and it should look great on the website. We're looking for something that's very polished, smooth, and symmetrical, rather than a raw drawing or sketch. Silhouettes and question marks are the obvious starting points that first come to mind. Feel free to use these ideas or get more creative. We've uploaded a stock image to show something that's close to what we have in mind. The image is too robotic-looking (probably because of the colors and the background used), but I could see this potentially working if some modifications were made to it. Maybe using colors from the site as the background, or possibly even getting more creative and using things that fit in with literature or knowledge (like a chalk board).
The anonymous avatar will appear on our homepage, mixed in with other authors, as seen here: http://www.digiq.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/21.jpg It will also appear on the Anonymous author page, seen here: http://www.digiq.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/5.jpg We've already tried a few stock photography options, as seen here: http://www.digiq.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/6.jpg ... The grid layout with multiracial avatars ended up being way too busy, especially on the Anonymous author page which features the image multiple times. And the faceless avatar isn't gender and race neutral, so we want to feature something more appropriate. You'll notice on the Anonymous author page, in some locations the image will appear at full size, and in other locations, it will be cropped. Here is the cropped area: http://www.digiq.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/Crop.jpg And here is an example of a stock photo that we're currently using for authors who do not have a photograph available: http://www.quotery.com/william-g-t-shedd The image, at full-size on the website, is 300x300. However, we will need at least a 1,000x1,000 pixel image, in case we ever decide to change the sizes on the website.
