Helen B., author
writing/publishing urban romantasy e-books for women all age,
I'm looking for an illustration (will be used in book and website) for the first book of a fantasy series
It's about nordic gods and their offspring fighting and falling in love in the midst of humans. Time switches between modern and middle ages, but the palace is located in a realm off-time and out of space.
The serie is related to women between 15 and 75. It's neither kitchy nor oversweet, but provides a smashing story of hard-pressed heros, with attractive body and beautiful soul. There is enough action/fighting to make it enjoyable for men also, but it's not drenched in blood. Style is modern, at times humorous and evoking intense emotions.
Please illustrate:
-a tandem-palace of honey/golden colored sandstone. The smaller, still mighty palace, rises in front of a bigger one, towering from behind. In total both palaces should be rectangular, not round.
(for outline of palaces see attachment 1 , for color inspriration of stone see attachment 2)
- smaller palace got a tremendous silver plated cupola, a huge silver plated, two-winged palace door, with half of a mighty golden ashtree plated on each wing. Door opens outwards at ground level, there are no steps
- bigger palace behind got an even bigger cupola of pure gold, but no entrance door (access through smaller palace)
- both palaces got windows with golden window frames.
- one on each side of palaces is an indentation (see outline of attachment 1) where, in proper distance to palaces, a round tower of same honey/golden colored sandstone, rises high up to the sky, broad enough to enclose a wide spiral staircase within.
- each tower is crowned by a quite big round globe (comparable to a soap-bubble ball), transparent at day, glowing at night. These towers are "street-lamps" so to speak and can not be ommitted, but the "bulb" at the top should be nearly invisible and only indicated. They should not look like minarets.
Hints:
- if you draw the square in front of the palaces, it must be paved with same honey/golden colored sandstone as palaces and towers, there is no gras in front.
- if you compose your design from a wider perspective, you should know that the palaces are placed on a broad, flattend knoll, surrounded by 3 rings of mighty ash trees in adequate distance. Please don't place palaces somewhere in the jungle.
- also they are not surrounded by mountains/hills - blue sky is best
I imagine the palaces to overawe and intimidate, but not inducing fear/dread
Important: please don't use celtic/viking other symbols (i.e. horse skulls, horns, wolves or ravens and others). The palace belongs to a mighty nordic god, not to an earthly king and should therefore be free of any national design/symbols, but feel free to add balconies, oriels, roof- top terraces and pinnacles or balustrades, if you think it suits your design.
- must look great on screen + print
- if you want to use stock, let me know in advance and describe to me in what way you want to use it, what you're aiming for and how much it will cost
