What's your vision?
We are currently designing apps for the travel community in Tromsø, Norway. These apps will showcase what to do and what to see in Arctic Norway, including restaurants, shopping opportunities, and activities and adventures in and around the city of Tromsø. We need two different app icons for two versions of the app : 1) Summer visit, and 2) Winter visit. I will refer to these as the «S-icon» and «W-icon» from here on. We want to include the letter S in the first (S-icon), and W in the second (W-icon). Also, the text "Tromsø" (without quotation marks) should be included in the icon. We want to minimize the number of colors used: no more than three colors should be used. The icons should be identical in shape and layout except for the letter (S or W). If possible, but not a requirement is that we would like there to be a color difference that helps distinguish «summer visit» from «winter visit»; for example that the S-icon is made with a warmer color scheme than the W-icon, but this is only a suggestion. We are looking for creative implementations of these elements, so the included examples should not be considered the style we are looking for. Feel free to experiment with the fonts used, depth perception / 3D, and include other elements that have relevance to the target audience: travelers in arctic Norway. This can include the Northern Lights, the Midnight Sun, snow, ice, fjords, mountains, et cetera. The apps are based on a paper magazine called “Experience the Tromsø-region”, and will display some of the content from this magazine. The magazine can be found at this location: https://issuu.com/lyngsfjord/docs/experiencetromsoregion2016
We have attached two simple examples of the integration of the letters (S and W) and Tromsø. These are meant to showcase the required elements (letter + city name) but not style.

And then… they selected a winner!
Eastwood Studio took my idea for my logo and brought it to life. This was my first time working with 99D, so I wasn't sure what to expect -- but the whole experience has exceeded my expectations. My logo makes me happy from the inside every time I see it! I have already hired her again for a follow-up project.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
