roopesh I got their new icon or button by running a design contest:
Create a beautiful app icon for a Kids' Multiplication game
Check out roopesh I's Icon or button contest…
We make math fun for kids, aged 6-9, by creating Math games. Parents and Teachers constantly write to us, telling us how much their kids have improved in math due to this game. Kids have a lot of fun, unlike worksheets or pseudo-gamified apps; and they improve a lot. We are now building a multiplication game targeting 6-9 year olds (or even higher) and having a great icon will inspire more people to recognize the quality of the app and explore further.
What's your vision?
We have a new Multiplication game that we are launching in the next 2 months. We'd like to make a better icon for it, so that - 1. It better represents what's inside 2. It just makes people want to download the game. Some screenshots related to the game are attached. We also have a testflight build, so you can download it and check it out (note that the in-game art is not completely integrated). Testflight link - https://testflight.apple.com/join/01fx5z4L (you will need an iOS device to see this) I'd prefer it if you download and play it once at least. The idea and the game loop is - Link for the cut scene in the beginning of the game - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EmBLwTV83B2WIPN6aeXraQsaeuJIHhuP/view?usp=sharing This scene introduces the story of the game. It is a puzzle game where the hero goes on a mission to restore the balance of the universe. He does it through solving puzzles in each level and reaching different checkpoints in the game. While journeying, Logik faces a lot of obstacles by way of closed doors and ditches. The player needs to help logik by solving the puzzles and filling the ditches. To fill the ditches correctly, they need to multiply blocks that are in the level, and then place them properly. As the journey continues, the levels get harder, reinforcing deeper multiplication understanding and practice. Meanwhile, the story unfolds. Link for a 1 minute long gameplay video. This is mainly to focus on what to avoid and what elements we like - within these parameters, feel free to be creative in terms of making the icon stand out. https://www.figma.com/proto/g7CMC03SECDL7XQexhr6if/Makkajai-Moodboards?node-id=1695%3A240&viewport=579%2C314%2C0.13799139857292175&scaling=scale-down With this particular game, we are trying to go for a “calm excitement” feeling - as such we’d like the icon to try and express such a feeling. It will help if Multiplication can be highlighted, but we have also seen that character faces work well.
This icon is meant to be attractive to Kids (and then Parents/teachers) - since it's a kids' app. Also avoid any vulgar/violent themes. Even though it's a monster, it needs to be cute. Try putting it in front of other apps to see if it will stand out. Our main intention is of course more downloads get more app launches (by making it stand out in the apps that are already installed). 1 is influenced mainly by parents, 2 is influenced more by kids. Also I'm attaching a few creatives from the game (how it will look finally) just to show what the characters and the game world looks like. Please do not hesitate to ask if you need anything more, but kindly be specific. Feel free to draw fresh instead of just using these creatives. (I don't even think it's a great idea to use them directly in the icon). To be used for both iPhone and iPad. I've also included a standard icon template - please put your design in this so its easy to see how it will look.
