We are seeking an elegant, modern & sleek design for a classical music festival located in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada, scheduled to begin in July 2019. The festival features internationally-renowned classical music ensembles, world-class soloists, leading jazz music & world music groups. It takes place during the course of 7-10 days each summer and is preceded by outreach activities that take place at local schools. Aside from the music performances, which are the main attraction of the festival, there will also be workshops, lectures, seminars and film screenings as well as events specifically tailored for families and children. THE LOGO DESIGN The exact title of the festival and the words that need to be included: “Collingwood Summer Music Festival” The design should be elegant, modern & sleek - in a nutshell. Overall, we need a "classical" look (albeit artistic) that captures the essence of the festival - nothing over-the-top and not too many colours! Ideally, only one colour or two very-well-integrated colours max. I like the pastel look very much, that is, lighter, faded colours - they seem to be in fashion nowadays. It should also look great on both white & dark backgrounds. Also, don't forget the old marketing rule: less is more. Our posters and brochures can have many colourful, splashy design effects but the logo has to have a distinct shape that's simple, easy to remember and works great in BOTH colour and monochrome. It should be elegant and classy for the high-brow folks but also include a touch of playfulness for the other events, such as family concerts, jazz evenings, comedy events. 80% of the festival is classical music, the rest is on the lighter side: 80% classical means NO GUITARS in the logo! Please avoid Canadian symbols such as the maple leaf or blatant music symbols such as the treble clef unless you have a killer design concept to go with it. Otherwise, it wreaks of provincialism. Other than that, let your imagination roam free! FESTIVAL GOALS 1. Music performances to be remembered for a lifetime. 2. Concerts of the highest caliber that are accessible to a wide variety of audiences. 3. High-quality return on investment for corporate sponsors, media partners and regional stakeholders: quantitative reports, complimentary tickets and VIP admission to gala events. 4. Music education seminars and workshops to enhance the engagement of the public and students with the arts. 5. Digital multimedia elements to enhance the performance experience. 6. Fun, family-friendly concerts and pre-season outreach concerts for public schools in the Simcoe County area to support the young generation. 7. Emerging artists series within the Festival and a workshop module in future years to connect developing, young artists with internationally-renowned music teachers. ABOUT COLLINGWOOD AND THE SURROUNDING AREA See some pictures of Collingwood for more inspiration. It's north of Toronto, but that doesn't mean it only has moose and bears or other stereotypical images of Canada - clean water and mountains. Recently, there has been a huge rise in cultural attractions, including museums and art galleries - too! It is a town with a unique, European flair. Collingwood is a quaint, charming, upscale town with a European flair located on the beautiful, panoramic Georgian Bay. It features a healthy tourist-driven economy and a small year-round population of only 22,000. The average household income of permanent residents is $122,788. The permanent population has soared in recent years, rising 11% in the last 5 years. Furthermore, the summer population swells up immensely due to cottage rentals and ownership. In fact, the entire Georgian Bay Triangle area (of which Collingwood is a part of) receives over 2 million visitors each summer! Georgian Bay Triangle area residents enjoy year-round sport & recreational activities, especially with the gorgeous backdrop of the "Blue Mountain resort" located right next to it (check out pictures of Blue Mountain on the web). Blue Mountain offers a host of attraction year round including skiing amenities, hiking opportunities, an upscale spa and many art galleries (similar to Whistler, BC).
