A book cover and back for the first of a series of apocalyptic fiction books. The title of Book 1 is "The Apocalypse Script" and the title of the series is "The Nisirtu". The Apocalypse Script will be self-published so the cover must look great in miniature on the Amazon Kindle website. In this book humanity’s “invisible masters” – the Nisirtu - have decided to destroy modern day humanity and start over. The bad guys are a secret society that originated in ancient Mesopotamia. There are plenty of images of Sumerian and Mesopotamian engravings and statues on the internet and those should serve as inspiration. Also the font of the title could resemble ancient Cuneiform writing, or Cuneiform etchings could be used decoratively or in the background. I envision a frontal view of the Head of Sargon the Great (I'll attach an image but many are on the internet), cut in half vertically, with only the left side of his face visible. That would be flush against the spine. In the damaged eye socket could be placed a bio-hazard or radiation warning sign (the Nisirtu are wiping out humanity with disease, war, plague, and EMP attacks). The rest of the cover could be just a color (black, bronze, red, etc.) or textured (like ancient tablets) except for the book name, series title, and my name, but I'm open to ideas. I envision the back of the book as my synopsis atop an artistic rendering of the victory stele of Naram Sin, also available on the internet. The flavor of the cover and back should be that modern civilization is being destroyed by the Nisirtu, who are mankind's ancient hidden masters. Almost all the book takes place at a massive, abandoned castle-like hotel deep in the mountains. I describe it as an entire medieval Swiss village squeezed together with multiple six-story turrets. That could be used, perhaps as a silhouette, but it's not mandatory. It is important that viewers not see the cover and think it is a historical fiction book, so some modern element needs to be provided, such as the biohazard signs I mentioned above. I am very open to ideas. The tagline on the back of the book is:
"What happens when humanity’s hidden masters tire of their slaves?
They start over."
The 4 paragraph synopsis beneath that is:
"Financial markets are crashing, crops are failing, Cage’s disease is a pandemic, and sabers are being rattled around the globe. It’s not the world that Ben Mitchell, a free-lance expert on ancient and esoteric writings, envisioned when he left the battlefields of Afghanistan a decade ago.
The world looks a little brighter when he is paid ten million dollars by the attractive but mysterious Lilian Stratton to research some puzzling inscriptions found on set of stone tablets discovered in Tiwanaku, Bolivia. But to do that he must join a secret society known as the Delphic Order of the Nisirtu and travel to Steepleguard, the remote fortress-like home of an elderly eccentric named Ridley.
The researcher soon finds that Lilian has lured him into a conspiracy of epic proportions. Her powerful opponents are now his enemies and even her allies seem to have hidden and sinister agendas. He learns that world is truly a stage and the scripts that have preserved mankind for millennia are being systematically destroyed by the invisible kingdoms that authored them. Within days the final script will run its course and the planet’s scattered survivors will be thrust into a new Dark Age.
As civilization rapidly disintegrates and clandestine armies converge on Steepleguard, humanity’s future hinges on Ben Mitchell’s ability to navigate the labyrinths of the Nisirtu and unlock the secrets of the Tiwanaku tablets."
