What's your vision?
Hello, I need a book cover for a Sci-Fi novelette that I am publishing on the Kindle Store. It is a dark, violent story with outer space, high-technology, dystopia and cyberpunk all as central ideas. The book is targeted at adults so I would prefer it in a realistic style as opposed to overly cartoon or comic style. Plot description: DISCARDED COLONY Shackled. Forgotten. Left for dead. Dean Ryder was unfairly deemed a danger to society and sent to rot on a high tech island hovering in the outer edges of space, a place run by sadistic guards and misused technology. As his health and will to live starts to fade, a message from the unknown gives him a sliver of hope of taking back control of his life. Discarded by the Earth, Ryder has to forget his past to determine his future. Text for cover: DISCARDED COLONY (title) V.M. Gunn (author) Dimensions: As specified by Amazon: "For best quality, your image would be 2820 pixels on the shortest side and 4500 pixels on the longest side". If in doubt, use your judgement for the size and ratio. More details: The cover must be dark. Cool colours are preferred. I think the "island" in space where the book is set should be featured on the cover. In the story they are described as: "Giant floating islands, built using impossibly light yet strong metals and polymers, fused with genetic qualities which blended man-made structure and organic plants and fibers. They were so immense that they generated their own atmospheres and blue skies." The island is in-fact being used as a prison where the central character is held captive. As such it is not a very nice place, at least the parts that he has seen of it. Additional details: 1. The story is violent. Prisoners get dismembered, splattered into "blood purées". The place is run by sadistic guards and the prisoners have no hope of every escaping. As such the cover must evoke the appropriate emotions of fear, darkness etc. 2. The mood borrows from 80's/90's sci-fi and action films such as Robocop, Moon 44, Demolition Man, Terminator, Fortress etc. Cool colours like blues, greys and black are preferred because they look metallic and futuristic. 3. It must scream Sci-fi by looking at the cover. Don't be afraid to show planets, stars and ships. 4. If you're going to show the island/prison then it has to be a sinister looking place. It is a massive space station but made with advanced technology where they are able to fuse it with organic elements. So, it is a living, breathing thing but must clearly be man-made as well. 5. There nasty patrol drones in the story that monitor the island and attack prisoners if necessary. 6. If you want to show the main character. He is a guy of about 40 years old. Shaved head. Strong build but looking weak because he is dying of radiation poisoning.
See attachments for mood ideas. Note: I do not want something that is 3D rendered. Entries with 3D rendered designs will not be considered.
