For a Fantasy novel set in the Hindu mythological Universe. Fiction.
What's your vision?
Dear designer, I'm looking for an e-book as well as print cover. Ratio 1:1.5 (1400 pixels by 2100 pixels). Resolution: 72dpi and 300ppi. I will also need a thumbnail. Title: DAUGHTER OF THE CREATOR. Subtitle: TALES OF THE HINDU UNIVERSE, #1 Author: by Ranjit More. I want great-looking fonts in eye-catching colors such that the main title of the book is visible in thumbnail size. My novel is set in the Hindu Universe which means lotuses, dhotis, gold jewelry, mystic symbols, giant trees and, most importantly, multi-armed beings. Here are blog posts explaining what I'd like as the cover: http://thedrumilauniverse.blogspot.in/2013/10/scenes-for-e-book-cover.html http://thedrumilauniverse.blogspot.in/2013/10/scenes-for-e-book-cover-2.html Although there is everything you need to know in the links above, I'm attaching some sample chapters here...so you get the atmosphere/feeling of the book. The document titled #1 is the first chapter of the book; #2 and#3 are the two scenes respectively which you can do a cover of. NOTE: Please try not to use any of the images attached here, or in the blog post. Especially do not use images of persons. SCENE #1: Takes place in an other-dimensional realm 60,000 miles below Earth. A four-armed daitya, called Drumila, is standing beneath a giant tree and looking at the skies of the Underworld. This giant tree grows on the summit of a ruby mountain and is 1200 miles tall, with its foliage spreading for at least a radius of 100 miles. Drumila is a four-armed being of a reddish complexion. He is wearing a tall golden helmet upon black curly hair till his shoulders, a waistband, arm-bands and other jewelry made of gold. His arms are thick, round and healthy. He has a very thin waist, broad shoulders and a reddish complexion - like that of a pomegranate. Please refer to the image titled BRAHMA for the best idea about Drumila's body figure. That image is perfect. What is Drumila wearing? He's wearing a white Indian dhoti on his waist (his reddish torso is bare). I have attached images titled DHOTI for your referral. Besides this, you can show a small figure of a black crocodile up in the pale sky beyond the tree for extra points. A glowing figure, of a sage, is flying upon that crocodile carrying a golden rod. Read attachment #2 for more details. . SCENE #2: A two-armed, golden-complexioned girl called Arundhati is looking up at a giant swan flying in the sky. The swan is so mighty, that the mere beating of its wings is causing the trees atop some hills in the distance to clop and tremble in the wind. Behind the swan, a mighty river is falling through the sky from outer space. This is the river Ganga. Because of the gushing and the frothing, the river appears like a pillar of milk falling through the sky. The river, upon impact, spreads opaque clouds of water-spray 60,000 miles around it over the surrounding forests and hills. At a distance, a great golden hall is visible across the horizon like a giant slab of gold. Notes: Arundhati is exceptionally large eyed, with highly arched eyebrows, slender, pointed nose and bow-shaped lips, with healthy padding on the face (cheeks look like cushions surrounding lips). Much like Madhubala (pic attached below), only exponentially more beautiful. Arundhati's waist is so thin that it appears like a creeper supporting two round, melon-like breasts. Conversely, her hips are round and ample. Unlike the models of our world, her arms and legs are stout and healthy - not thin and bony. Read attachment #3 for more details. NOTE: Please try not use to any of the images attached here, or in the blog post. Especially do not use images of persons and gods. No manga/anime type characters. Thank you, and have a great day! EDIT: For the illustrators: My friend has created a drawing recently which I'm attaching below. It is a bit rough around the edges, but I've seen some graphic designers turn a drawing into a great illustration/book cover. Note that the waist should be much much thinner than what has been rendered here and the upper left arm should be in proportion to the body and properly attached. The attachment is titled 'Drawing'.
Keep in mind this is a mystic, Indian tale, and run with your imagination. Think rainforests covered in fog. Ponds full of lotuses and multi-armed gods carrying exotic weapons and wearing body-covering clothes (always) and golden jewelry. Refer images a,b,c attached below for an idea of figures belonging to the Hindu universe. What should you put on the Back side of the print version? BACK SIDE DESCRIPTION: 60,000 miles below the surface of the Earth, an exotic Kingdom of daityas thrives amidst three giant peaks of ruby, emerald and sapphire. Drumila, the four-armed King of this city, has been ruling his dark, fanged subjects fearlessly for quite some time now, but he is always bothered about the Naagas, giant serpents who have populated the subterranean realms below their world with their countless offspring. When the reptiles finally start to make their way up towards his Kingdom, Drumila decides it is time to pack and move. But migrating isn’t so easy. Drumila’s army numbers in billions and the pass to the Earth’s surface is narrow. How will so many wide shoulders make it side by side? With Shukracharya’s help, however – who is the priest of their race and the governor of the planet, Venus – Drumila manages to conduct an exodus, and establishes a magnificent capital called Eshanya-puri in a forest sacred to Lord Shiva on the Earth's surface. From this new city on the Earth, the daityas make plans of attacking the mystic wall of Svarga-lok, and vanquishing the gods forever. Conversely, in the high heavens, the Creator vexes over the destruction of the reddish daitya-King, who has become a nuisance for the gods. The Creator knows that the secret to the daitya’s defeat lies in the weakening of his powerful limbs, so he hatches a clandestine plan in his illuminated halls and sends his daughter, Arundhati, down to the Earth in a human incarnation. Arundhati must somehow make her way to the secret site of Eshanya and seduce that great daitya King with her delicate waist and large eyes extending up to her ears. For what other way is there to diminish the daitya's strength if not through the act of copulation? DAUGHTER OF THE CREATOR is the tale of the Emperor of Paataal, the Hindu underworld, and the goddess of svarg, the Hindu heaven, and their quest for endless power, desire and each other's destruction. _______________________ I know that's a lot of words. See if you can fit it or I'll trim it up. Best of luck!
