Entertainment & The Arts
We publish darkly comedic, literary, erotic, science fiction, coming-of-age, romantic, action-packed cross-genre works of fiction (no zombies; no vampires; no dragons).
What's your vision?
What I want for my $600: 1) print book and ebook cover art for 1st book (should be essentially the same) 2) some "series" element 3) Ideas for the other 4 books 4) the file for the cover (i.e. photoshop, illustrator, etc.) (I will eventually need 5 book covers for the novel series: "Between Two Evils") Book 1 title: Crossing In Time (Could also be "In Time" or "Given Time") Subtitle: "The First Disaster" (Book 2 would be "Disaster Number Two" or "The Second Disaster" etc.) Tag line: If someone took everything you live for… How far would you go to get it back? Pitch: Toss together The Time Traveler’s Wife and 2012 with a pinch of Men Are From Mars, and you’ll have the flavor of CROSSING IN TIME: A LOVE STORY, a smart and sexy work of commercial fiction set in a near-future world drowning in garbage and denial. This offbeat tale is about falling madly in love when one is too sensible for such things, letting go of morose cynicism when it’s the last lifejacket on a sinking ship, and racing against the clock when you don’t have the proper shoes. It's a coming-of-age story for old fogeys, a how-to-make-love guide for die-hard celibates, and a laugh-out-loud tragedy with a hopeful twist.
Design elements: 1) An orange seashell (see included images) n.b. NOT women's fiction! (This does NOT have to be central to the design!) 2) dark next to light (maybe silhouettes? man in black, woman in light? hands, only?) 3) lovers aging; old next to young; time passing; can be sexually suggestive; involves peril/danger 4) SIMPLE design! 5) A design element that connects all 5 covers. (font or icon or...) I have some images that I like, and some ideas, but I want something a bit quirky, something that turns a traditional book design meme on its ear: a visual pun, if you will. And I want it simple. Very simple. One glance and you're trapped. But if you look more carefully, there are layers. You know, like a sexy onion (but I don't want a sexy onion, lol. Maybe a sexy and dangerous seashell?) I uploaded some book covers that I like. I also included some images that I like (I have the license for the pink/orange shell on the black background, so you could use that image. I have a high-res version.) I like the colors/contrast on the beach shot (but not the starfish). I also included the publisher logo (Rocky Mountain Press) and a banner add for the first 3 books (with temporary cover art).
