This is a competition for the front and back cover of the memoirs of Dr. Sabah Aris, a renowned criminal lawyer from Baghdad. The working title for now is 'Fighting For Justice', although this may be subject to change. The back cover 'blurb' for the book is as follows: Finding justice as a criminal lawyer in Baghdad has never been easy. Dr. Sabah Aris knows this more than most. In a career spanning fifty years, Dr Aris has been shot in the head, forced to brandish a revolver in court, witnessed an act of cannibalism and wrestled a bear. And if acting on some of Iraq’s most notorious cases left his life at risk then working during Saddam Hussein’s regime, as Iraq slipped into outright mayhem, was a different matter altogether. A memoir like no other, Dr Aris’ experiences in Baghdad prove that sometimes justice cannot just be found; sometimes it must be fought for.
What's your vision?
I am looking for a front cover that incorporates the attached picture of Dr Aris fighting a bear, as well as a back cover that incorporates the books 'blurb'. In particular I would like to see covers that are similar in design to the attached Penguin Classics covers (Fitzgerald, Kerouac, Morrissey), which also use black and white photographs. In particular I am looking for a sleek, clean design that conveys gravitas and looks the sort of 'classic' title you would see in a book store. For more inspiration please consider the Penguin Classics website: http://www.penguinclassics.co.uk/ While I would like to use the black and white photograph it may also be interesting to see it with a tint, or indeed with the background removed and replaced by something else.
