Entertainment & The Arts
ExtraOrdinary is set in a futuristic, wasteland world known as Infernus. It is rumored that in the north and east there is a body of water so massive, a person can't see end to end, a place where green plants and living animals thrive. The story is focused in the desert of Infernus, and follows our heroes as they travel to the unknown north, facing individual challenges as they separate and come back together. In this futuristic world, mankind has evolved so every human has a unique power or ability, all except the main character who is unique in the fact that he's ordinary by today's standards, powerless. It will fall on his shoulders to save the world that mankind, with all their powers and perceptions of being gods, has destroyed. The target audience is 16-25 year old males, fans of science fiction and fantasy.
What's your vision?
I keep imagining the cover with orange highlights, like "Ready Player One," with the words running vertically down the cover, but you're the professionals, so I'm open for any imagining. The novel is set in a wasteland type world, so dry colors would fit best; however, there is a lot of contrast with the settings as certain parts are still lush and green. The sky is a dark and cloudy, threatening, and the colors blue, red, and purple are reoccurring as well. I don't want you to be limited to depicting the novel's setting, though. Think of what's popular. Game of Thrones cover's are very simple, usually a single image that relates to the novel. I prefer clean and simple of complex and cluttered.
Characters are 19 years old, trying to survive in an apocalyptic world. The themes are hope in hopeless places, and how mankind, no matter how powerful, can't be gods. And, of course, underdogs coming out on top.
