Driftless House is the imprint used by independent author Lou Mindar. The intended audience is readers of literary and mainstream fiction.
What's your vision?
Title: Tierra del Fuego Subtitle: A Novella Author: Lou Mindar This novella is about a man, Matt Cravens, who suspects his wife of having an affair. She is about to reveal the truth to him when she is killed in an auto accident. Matt is consumed with grief over his wife’s death, but he is also dealing with the anger associated with her betrayal. Unable to cope with his mixed feelings, Matt starts driving south from his home in Chicago, eventually ending up in Ushuaia, Argentina, the southernmost city in South America. There, he befriends a simple sheepherder who helps him to mourn his dead wife while also understanding and dealing with his feelings of betrayal. What I want in a book cover: I wish I knew. I want something that’s more literary and less genre. I’m not sure how to adequately explain that look, but it tends to be a little more understated and sophisticated. I don’t have any great ideas for the cover, but the book follows the main character along his journey through Central and South America, so, as a possibility, I could see a map in the background. I’m counting on your artistic vision to overcome my lack of a concrete idea for the cover. Required Design Specs: This is from the Kindle website: Dimensions: Requirements for the size of your cover art must have an ideal height/width ratio of at least 8:5 (1.6), meaning: • A minimum of 625 pixels on the shortest side and 1000 pixels on the longest side • For best quality, your image should be 2500 pixels on the longest side Size: Your cover image must be less than 50MB. If the file type you are using supports compression, make sure to enable as little compression as possible, e.g. none for TIFF. Be sure to save your file with 72 dots per inch (dpi). Color: Product images display on the Amazon website using the RGB (red, green, blue) color mode or profile. RGB is the color mode native to the web and many color screen displays, as these three colors displayed at varying levels of intensity create over 16 million colors. When saving and uploading your cover image file, save your file ONLY as RGB - not CMYK or sRGB- for the color profile. You can usually find this option in the File saving dialog of image manipulation programs such as Photoshop.
I'm looking forward to seeing a bunch of great book cover designs, and having a hard time choosing a winner. Good luck!
