I'm the author of a novel entitled Singled Out - contemporary fiction/psychological suspense. The story is aimed at readers of psychological suspense (male and female, but likely to be predominantly female). Likely age range, 30 to 60+.
What's your vision?
Book Title: Singled Out Author: Julie Lawford Tagline (provisional): Everyone takes baggage on a singles holiday Description: A psychological suspense novel set on a holiday on Turkey’s Lycian Coast. Requirement: Book cover for Kindle e-book and corresponding CreateSpace paperback (ie, front and back cover and spine, trim etc). Design needs to work for both, plus thumbnail size. Spine width not yet known, but likely to be around 2.5 cms.
SINGLED OUT is a psychological suspense novel set on Turkey’s Lycian Coast where a group of strangers come together on a singles holiday in a boutique hotel. As someone begins picking off victims in a sordid private game, one guest is alone in sensing the threat. The protagonist, a woman in her early 40’s, has come on holiday to escape a personal tragedy. She sets about trying to unmask the perpetrator, which leads to a dark, twisty confrontation (mental not physical). My story is aimed at readers who enjoy psychological books such as those by authors like Gillian Flynn, Erin Kelly and Rachel Abbott for example. However, I see the challenge as being able to suggest the darkness of the story against an essentially beautiful, exotic, summer holiday location. I would be interested to see ideas around the following: • A woman lying apparently asleep • Sunsets • Twin-masted gulet in a secluded bay • Ideas using images in this iStock lightbox, or similar http://www.istockphoto.com/search/lightbox/16157440 I’m also not wedded to actual imagery and would be very keen to see abstract designs too. My preference is for something chic/stylish rather than sensationalist. For the paperback, I have yet to write the back-page blurb. The spine needs to include the attached ‘JL’ logo in the position typically taken by a publisher’s logo (probably greyscale rather than colour, and it need not have the full 'Julie Lawford' beneath the JL). This is my first self-published novel, but I intend to write more in the same vein. The winning designer will likely become my designer of choice for subsequent novels. I also occasionally commission design work for my marketing clients and I always welcome the chance to connect with great designers.

Alessio has been my favorite designer to work with of all the projects I've done! He is incredibly patient, punctual and very pleasant to communicate with. I am very picky about small details on my design and he was so accommodating to my vision through the process. He is impressively skilled at taking direction and was happy to make adjustments to make the design exactly what I envisioned (even when I had a hard time articulating what I wanted!) He is able to expand on your ideas and make them better than you even imagine yourself and is always respectful of your wants and opinions. Couldn't give a more glowing review. I would highly highly recommend him for your next project! I am so happy I chose him and would hire him again in a second!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
