The target audience for this novel is children aged between 7 and 10.
What's your vision?
I would like an ebook front cover (suitable for Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing) for my children's book, The Christmas Curse. The book is aimed at ages 7-10. The story features a twin brother and sister: John (age 10, chubby, dark hair, blue eyes), and Laura (age 10, auburn hair, brown eyes, freckles); and a talking Christmas tree called Mr Tree. I would like the tree and book title to be most prominent on the cover, with the children also featuring. The tree is a traditional fur, around 8ft tall, which comes alive in the story. He is in proportion to a human, with a head at the top, including a mouth but no visible eyes, ears or nose. I would like it to have two little branches as eyebrows to convey expression. He has a gold star at the top, and is decorated with gold beads and baubles. This book is a magical tale, with lots of festive fun and the cover -should have vibrant festive colours including red. I would like the cover to look modern and appeal to today's children - cartoon style rather than a traditional watercolour illustration. The book is set in modern-day England and should capture the magic and fun of the season. The book is a light-hearted comedy for children; it is in no way sinister (i.e no references to witchcraft or black magic). Additional details: - I'd like my name at the bottom of the cover. - Having seen a few examples, I'd like the primary background cover to be red. - The description of kids and tree must be followed, and the tree needs to look alive.
Here’s the jacket blurb to give you a flavour of the story. For John and Laura Elliot, it’s not going to be a very merry Christmas. After years of pinching other children’s sweets, playing horrid pranks on teachers, and continually disrespecting their parents, the troublesome ten-year-old twins finally get a taste of their own medicine when a magical curse is placed upon them. For the next twelve days, they are on the receiving end of twelve quite extraordinary curses, including, a very shiny nose, and an invasion of tormenting turkeys. Under the watchful eye of Mr Tree, the family’s eight-foot Christmas tree which comes to life to help and guide them, John and Laura must learn a lesson and mend their ways in order to restore normality in time for Christmas Day.
