Design a clean but intriguing cover for a dystopy

My story takes place in a dystopian world with lots of wasteland showing signs of a past war - think heavily burnt out or otherwise decayed buildings, barren, uncultivated and uninhabited ground. The protagonist is an 18 year old woman who is the leader of one of the few remaining clans. She searches for a way to make everything better. I am looking for a clean, not overloaded cover that conveys the feeling of both: a broken world and the hope for a better future. Because there are a few fantasy elements in the story an abstract approach to the design is possible. This is the first part of a quadrilogie. Every book focuses on a different element, whereby the first one is about the element earth. To link the four books together every cover should contain the matching element in form of the alchemical symbol. The symbol of the earth is a down-pointing triangle with a horizontal line in the middle. Therefore I would like to see this symbol integrated in the cover.
