Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are an independent publisher who sells our books through Amazon.com. Our latest book, Anesthesia Made Easy, is an introductory guide to anesthesiology for medical students, anesthesia students (anesthesiologists assistants, and certified registered nurse anesthetists) and physicians who are starting their first rotations in anesthesiology. It is one part text book and one part survival guide.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We use Create Space and will be offering the book as a print on demand physical copy and an e-book. We are looking for a book that will pop on Amazon.com. All our books are sold there and we need an eye catching book that will look good as a "postage stamp" picture. Most anesthesia books offer a generic design and are the typical "text book" style cover ... booooo. (See the category in Amazon for anesthesiology to see what we mean.)
This book is an affront to traditional anesthesia publishing and we want the book cover to convey it.
What we want is a Swiss design style book cover that is simplistic, yet professionally made. The book's title is "Anesthesia Made Easy" and the subtitle is "The survival guide to make your first anesthesia rotation a success." The author's name is Jeff Steiner.
We want "Anesthesia Make Easy" to be in large print so that it is easily read as a "postage stamp". The subtitle needs to be underneath it as well, but does not have to be read in the postage stamp size. The author's name can be in smaller print at the bottom of the cover - it does not need to be noticeable. (See the book cover to Beyond the Grind below.) Colors need to be simple and bold.
The book will be published in print form through CreateSpace in a 5 x 8 format. There will be about 160 pages of print (to help you with the spine design) I will need a place for an ISBN number and space on the back cover for text to be added at a later time.
Most anesthesiology books have a random design (think generic text book) or a photograph of something from anesthesia (someone in scrubs standing over a patient on a table) ... We do not want either one of those. Simple Swiss design with an anesthesia vector would be great. See images attached to see the anesthesia vector and the types of book covers we are looking for.
Thank you for looking through the brief ... Good Luck and Game on.
