I write and edit books.
What's your vision?
I need a book cover for a book which has a front cover of 12.7cm wide by 20.3cm high. The finished cover will need to include the correct width of spine, a front and rear cover, and allow for a 3mm bleed all round. Any artwork should extend to the outer edge of the bleed area. I need a cover that will be eye-catching in print form as well as online as a thumbnail, and it should have font that is large and clearly legible as a thumbnail. Please leave the bottom right-hand corner of the back cover blank for the barcode. This book is very short so you won't be able to include any font on the spine. Title: The Armoured Train Incident Author: Kathy Stewart Back cover blurb: On 15 November 1899, near the start of the Anglo-Boer War, an armoured train manned by British soldiers and containing a young British journalist named Winston Churchill ground its way towards Chieveley in the misty hinterland of Natal, South Africa. The Boers, those fearsome, brave Afrikaner farmers known for their horsemanship and marksmanship, had proved to be a fearsome and formidable force. So as the train steamed along the track, the soldiers were well aware that the often elusive enemy could strike at any time.
Winston Churchill, the British Prime Minister during World War II, was a young man working as a war correspondent in South Africa during this incident. He was captured and later imprisoned. Any design could include a photo of him and also of the armoured train, the Boers and the British soldiers. I don't want to prescribe what should be on the cover but those might give you ideas. I'll need a CYMK pdf of the whole cover, plus a jpeg or png file of the front cover suitable for use on Kindle and to use in promotions, and also a jpeg or png file suitable for use on Smashwords (1600X2400dpi).

And then… they selected a winner!
Gordan designed my book cover. His design was in a group of about 50 submissions. It stood out among the rest of them and also mirrored my design brief. Working with Gordan is a pleasure on every level. He is a real pro. I can't recommend him highly enough. He deserves a perfect 10 score from me.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
