We publish smart and engaging books for children between the ages of 5 and 8.
What's your vision?
Create a delightful and playful cover for a children's book about a little umbrella and the boy he loves.
'The Lonely Little Bumbershoot' is a 62 page book, with full color/full bleed illustrations. I'm uploading a PSD template for the 8.5"x8.5" print version of the book, including the current design concept. We're pretty happy with the existing back cover, but you're welcome to improve it if you have ideas. It's the front cover that we're most interested in. The front must include an image of the crying bumbershoot (umbrella), and you'll find a copy of the picture on a separate layer of the PSD, against a transparent background for easy manipulation. I've uploaded another image that contains three illustrated snapshots of a little boy. We'd like to see two or three of the snapshots integrated into the background of the front cover. If you only choose two, please use the Mission Beach and Belmont Park snapshots. Our instinct is to fade the snapshots, or make them muted/translucent, to ensure that the bumbershoot is the most powerful image on the cover. Feel free to try this idea, or anything else that appeals to your design instinct. The front cover design needs to look good in an 8.5"x8.5" print format, as well as a 160x160 pixel thumbnail for online sales. We are wide open as far as fonts and colors go, however all three of the names (Brenda & Jeff Edwards, and Brise Birdsong) must be the same size.
