What's your vision?
I’m looking for a cover (ebook, print, audio) for the first book in my new zombie apocalypse / post-apocalyptic /dystopian series (1 of 6). The series focuses on a group of people surviving the outbreak of the zombie apocalypse, and how they fare in the new world order that is establishing itself. So it’s not just fleeing and inevitably killing zombies, there’s a lot more to it. Book 1 is set inside the laboratory complex of a biotech company, including the biosafety level 4 (highest) labs where everyone wears hazmat suits (positive pressure suits) only. The central premise is that a supposed group of terrorists secures the building so they can retrieve a virus that is a potential weapon of mass destruction that could end the world—only that they are too late, as it’s already out there, killing people and turning them into zombies. Only at the very end as detonations are bringing down the building do they flee outside where there are zombies all over the city (but they do show up inside the building before that). I have two main characters: a female, 30 years old, long red hair usually tied back--scientist; a male, 35 years old, short black hair--soldier. The cover should look like “zombie apocalypse”, “lab”, “dystopia”, “soldiers/terrorists fighting zombies”, “society collapsing”—something distressed / destroyed / decaying—but I don’t really have any specific ideas. Doesn’t need to feature people (the main couple) on the cover (it’s horror, not romance). Think “The Walking Dead” TV show, or Bobby Adair’s books (The Last Survivors series - http://www.amazon.com/Bobby-Adair/e/B00CLFCBBI). I’ll let you take it from here. It should be a real eye-catcher, also on thumbnail. UPDATE: Destroyed / abandoned cityscapes might work well as a background. And the main focus shouldn't be the zombies. Specifics: Author Name: Adrienne Lecter Book Series: Green Fields Book Title: Incubation (You can add that it’s book 1 in the series, too) Ebook—jpg: for amazon, kobo, apple, B&N, etc.; standard size Paperback—pdf: 5x8, 320 pages cream paper (0.8in spine) - Createspace Audiobook—jpg: 2400 x 2400 Back copy: Tagline: If the zombie apocalypse happens tomorrow—how would you spend your last day? Text: All Dr. Brianna Lewis wants is a cup of coffee. Coffee, to make slaving away in her cell culture lab at Green Fields Biotech a little more bearable on a Friday afternoon when everyone is home already. What she doesn’t count on is a group of terrorists blowing up all the entrances to the building and taking her and a select few others hostage. Bree soon finds herself conflicted. Not only does she know their charismatic leader. She also starts to suspect that there is a lot more to this than the hunt for an illegal bioweapon—a virus that could potentially kill millions in just a few days—particularly as there is currently a flu epidemic raging across the country, and reports about violent behavior among the afflicted are getting more and more alarming.
